Faye travel insurance pros and cons
- High limits for emergency medical expenses
- Add-ons for pet care, rental car coverage and adventure sports
- Cancel for any reason insurance covers up to 75% of non-refundable expenses — higher than the 50% some other companies offer
- Only one plan — there are no tiers to opt for higher or lower coverage limits
- Does not offer annual travel insurance policies, an option commonly offered by competitors.
Faye travel insurance plans
Faye only has one policy, unlike other travel insurance providers, which typically offer several levels of coverage to choose from. But Faye's single plan is quite comprehensive — with higher-than-standard limits for medical emergencies and evacuation, baggage and personal belongings when compared to other brands.
Like most travel insurance policies, Faye's plans only cover cancellation or interruption for certain reasons, unless you opt for a CFAR upgrade. Faye's plan is relatively standard in the reasons it covers, including:
- Natural disasters
- Traffic accidents
- Job loss
- Illness, injury or death in your family
- Illness, injury or death of a travel companion
Also like many other policies, Faye doesn't automatically cover cancellation for pre-existing medical conditions. However, you can get a waiver for these conditions if you purchase your Faye travel insurance policy within 14 days of booking your trip.
Faye's coverage is also bolstered by numerous add-ons, including coverage for your pets, whether they're traveling with you or staying behind in a kennel. If you want added flexibility, you can purchase CFAR coverage with a reimbursement rate of 75%, which is on the higher end.
Faye coverage limits
Faye's base plan includes the following limits:
| Benefit | Coverage limit |
|---|---|
| Trip cancellation | 100% of non-refundable trip costs (up to $40,000) |
| Trip interruption | 150% of non-refundable trip costs (up to $60,000) |
| Trip delay | $300 per day for delays of at least six hours (up to $2,100) |
| Missed connection | $200 (after three hours) |
| Baggage delay | $200 starting at 6 hours (without receipt), $300 starting at 12 hours (with receipt) |
| Lost/damaged luggage | Up to $2,000 total |
| Emergency medical expenses | Up to $250,000 (primary coverage) |
| Emergency medical evacuation | Up to $500,000 |
| Non-medical emergency evacuation | Up to $100,000 |
Optional add-ons
Add-ons vary by plan and state but include:
- CFAR coverage: Up to 75% of trip costs (can cancel up to 48 hours before departure).
- Rental car insurance: Coverage for collision, natural disasters, theft and vandalism.
- Adventure travel and extreme sports: Up to $250,000 for international trips and $50,000 for sports like skydiving, bungee jumping or free diving.
- Vacation rental damage: Up to $3,000 for unintentional damage to rental properties.

How Faye compares to other travel insurance companies
We compared Faye to two other leaders in the travel insurance space.
Faye vs. Travel Guard®
Both Travel Guard and Faye offer an easy, online purchasing experience with first-rate customer service.
While Faye has just one plan, Travel Guard offers three tiers — from the budget-level essential policy to the comprehensive deluxe policy — plus a last-minute travel plan that forgoes trip cancellation coverage.

Read our Travel Guard review
Faye's plan includes higher coverage limits in several areas, including emergency medical expenses: It maxes out at $250,000, compared to $100,000 with Travel Guard's deluxe policy. It also offers twice as much coverage for lost luggage as Travel Guard.
Read: Travel Guard travel insurance review
Faye's CFAR insurance also reimburses up to 75% of trip expenses, compared to just 50% with Travel Guard.
But Travel Guard comes out on top for affordability: For the same family trip to the U.K., even its deluxe plan was cheaper than Faye's quoted rate.
Faye vs. World Nomads
World Nomads' four plans cap trip cancellation and interruption at $15,000 each. Faye, however, reimburses 100% of your non-refundable trip costs up to $40,000 if you cancel and 150% (up to $60,000) if there's a trip interruption.
World Nomads Travel Insurance
Policy highlights
Standard, Explorer, Epic single-trip plans and annual/multi-trip plan, with CFAR available with top-tier policies
Cancel For Any Reason coverage
Add-on for Explorer and Epic plans covering 75% of nonrefundable costs if purchased seven days before initial deposit. (Not available in New York.)
Pre-existing condition waiver
Available with Explorer and Epic plans purchased seven days before first deposit.
You'll need to purchase World Nomads' priciest epic plan to get the same $250,000 in medical expenses coverage that Faye offers, and the same CFAR coverage that reimburses up to 75% of trip costs.
If you travel on the wild side, however, coverage for more than 250 adventure activities — including bungee jumping, snorkeling and ziplining — is standard with all World Nomads plans. Dozens more, from cliff diving to parachuting, are covered on higher tiers.
With Faye, getting coverage for adventure activities is an extra add-on.
A quote from World Nomads found that the same family of four would pay about $331 for the standard plan, $551 for the explorer plan and $1,016 for the epic plan. Faye's quote was $690 for the same trip.
Is Faye travel insurance right for me?
Faye is a great choice if you're a digital-savvy traveler who wants to quickly snag a policy without having to decide among various tiers. The convenient mobile app can help you track flights, file claims, book telemedicine appointments and more.
If you want the cheapest policy possible — or the ability to choose coverage limits from among different tiers — Faye may not be the right option for you.
